Quick answer

Is Bermuda right for a DFW yard?

Yes, if the yard gets six or more hours of direct sun. Bermuda is the most drought-tolerant and traffic-tolerant grass we sell, and the cheapest per pallet, but it thins out fast under trees. It is the right call for open front yards, backyards with kids and dogs, and new-build lots across north Fort Worth, Far North Dallas, south Arlington, and Mansfield.

Bermuda questions.

Which Bermuda is best for a DFW lawn?

Tifway 419 for the classic dense lawn at the best price, TifTuf if you want to water less, Celebration for a darker color. All three handle North Texas heat and clay.

How much sun does Bermuda need?

Six or more hours of direct sun. Below that it thins and weeds move in, no matter how much you water.

When can I lay Bermuda sod in North Texas?

Any time the ground is not frozen. It roots fastest from April through September; laid in winter it sits dormant and greens up in spring.

How much does Bermuda sod cost installed in DFW?

Typical installed range is $800-1,000 / pallet installed, including prep. Delivery-only pallets start at $269.

Not the right fit?

Yards change from the sunny front to the shady back. Plenty of DFW homes run two grasses.
